What are your tips to save money in Singapore? - hellohello - 27-03-2025
Came across this random video, wasn’t really searching for it, just one of those things that pops up while scrolling YouTube.
Got me wondering how people here actually save money, especially when everything’s so expensive these days – food, transport, rent, even the small things like bubble tea also can feel the pinch. The video mentioned some budgeting and investment tips, but honestly, nothing super new.
Just curious, what do you all actually do to save money here? Like practical, everyday stuff that actually works. Would be nice to hear some fresh ideas!

Coffee and tea bags are very cheap.
Drink only at home can save a lot.

Drink water from company. Got free tea and coffee then take. Dont buy from outside.
Walk as much as possible... good for body. Most office workers and nua people will like have weak legs when old.

Buy groceries from jb. Buy bathroom accessories, dup condo keys snd cards, make glasses, eat restaurant foods, watch movies, .... can save a lot

family of 5 will cost u >15 sgd when out to malls n attraction places.
bring yr own sandwiches do not patronise restaurants that cost u 19% more for non addwed service
is so stupid n irresponsible to the family to pay extra 19% for the aircon!!
family of 5 dine in a restau will cost ard150sgd
that is 0.19*150=28.5 pay for nothing

Eat at home or prepare your own bento for lunch
If cannot cook, never go to coffee shops
some small neighborhood shops are much cheaper

if this expensive that expensive then live singapore really cham.
i once met this malaysia boy who just come here work as security guard. met him in the evening. he said very hungry as he cannot bear to buy food here. feel very expensive. he take bus from jb to come singapore to work daily. i tell him can buy bread from super market and drink water from tap. no need go hungry.
when there is a will to save there is a way. save you pay check first before you spend then no need to control spend. in your next increment. go setup a pay as you earn account and transfer the increment to that account.
you will not feel it as the increment is addition. some how one will be able to adjust. remember in school . allowance is much lesser. still survive. why now so much more. money no enough?

Quit addictions can save a lot. For smakers, one yr can save 15x365/2 = 2700, to 5400, plus future medical costs. For gamblers, can save even more from toto and 4d. If coe expires dun get new ones if not useful

I buy one cup of coffee, pour into two cups and add water, so price of one for two pax
I buy from stall that are generous like mbs nasi brani...portion fit for two only 9.80/2

Next is don’t go buy expensive properties.
Come eat , just eat simple Don’t go restaurant.
The rest so simple just don’t anyhow buy stuffs u don’t need.
