US Rejects Japan's Request for Special Treatment on Tariff Issues: Report
US President Donald Trump's administration has informed the Japanese trade delegation that it cannot grant Japan special treatment on tariff issues, according to NHK.
The report cited sources as saying that Ryosei Akazawa, Japan's tariff negotiator, requested a review of tariffs on automobiles and steel, but the US side stated that it could not offer special treatment to Japan alone.
Akazawa, as indicated by the report, plans to make the review request again in the next round of talks and confirm that this issue remains on the agenda
