Bangkok (translating as 'village of wild plums').

Bangkok comes from the old name, ‘บางกอก’ (Baang-gòok) but maybe foreigners heard it differently, so the pronunciation changed to Bangkok.

The Thai junta govt is really useless. Instead of doing something useful for their people, they rename Bangkok for fark? Plus keep flipflop on their policies on covid testing for tourists who rather not go.
