The best way is to talk, negotiate. 
Sanctions will only add to the problem.
If Europe keep supplying Ukraine with weapons, its adding oil to the flame.

What nonsense you talking.  If not being for the sanctions and world support to Ukraine, Putin would not bother to negotiate and do what he like by installing a puppet in Ukraine. If the war drag on, Putin will be in serious trouble.

Even China now also betray Putin by not voting for him in UNSC and support financing sanctions on Russia. Putin is very disappointed and have to threaten with nukes as last resort.
