The article neglects to mention one important point, which is the need for annual vaccine boosters.

Base on the present technology, it can be bi-annual booster shots. If we take annual, there is a gap of a few months.

unnoticed 800 flu related deaths per annum compared with 45 covid related deaths from 2020 sure sound statistically logical to live with more covid death now.
