Again, it's a question of whether the hawker is greedy or otherwise.
$2.50 he can still make a reasonable profit.

Please read...he said this....still profitable but his volume huge although price is low!
How does he keep the price tag low with today’s inflation? By reducing portion sizes? "It's never changed [over the years]. Because honestly, the portion for the $2.50 set isn't a lot, so I can't cut it down anymore. I just make less profits, but to me, selling it cheap is still okay as I can make money by selling more volume,” he explains.

Recently news on TV talk about increasing prices from Hawkers, got one hawker claim " those never increase price is BS "
what he indirectly means , yes price never increase BUT portion getting lesser + ingredients.
actually WORST are those Increase price YET reduce portion ones.

True....at Chong Pang HC which opened recently again,
The freaking fried Hay mee upped from $4 to $4.50 and the portion halved.
Don't support such greedy bastards.
Daylight robbery, won't eat again.

Not surprising , Surely Some hawkers are currently doing this " again riding on the inflation , soon GST hike " again can increase price = more profits for themselves
