The world’s largest luxury cruiser may end up in a scrap yard, no buyer can be found - theold - 22-06-2022

The Hong Kong-owned MV Werften shipyard went bankrupt at the beginning of the year, and now its luxury cruise ships are standing empty-handed at a northern German shipyard.

Now it is being prepared for its maiden voyage - towards the scrap yard.

The trustees of the bankruptcy estate cannot find a buyer for the giant ship. So the ship's lower hull is being sold at scrapping prices, says the German cruise industry magazine An Bord.

Both vessels were originally ordered by the Asian company Dream Cruises, which, however, collapsed along with its parent company, Genting Hong Kong, earlier this year. The cause was a corona pandemic that has plummeted demand for cruise ships.
