Around 11:30 am on the 8th, former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of the Liberal Democratic Party, who was giving a street speech on the streets of Nara City, was attacked. He was apparently shot from behind with a shotgun and was taken to an ambulance. According to the Nara City Fire Department, it seems to be cardiopulmonary arrest in an unconscious state.

According to Kyodo News, a source familiar with the matter said that former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was shot in the back during a speech and was hit in the left chest. The police are conducting a detailed investigation of the scene.
Japan Broadcasting Association TV station NHK reported that at about 11:30 local time on the 8th, former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who was giving a street speech in Nara, Japan, was shot and fell to the ground. Two shots were fired at the scene, and a man was taken into custody at the scene. According to officials from the Abe faction of Japan's Liberal Democratic Party, Shinzo Abe was shot in the chest and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Previously, it was reported that former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe suddenly fainted during a speech in Nara City. There were signs of bleeding at the scene, and gunshots were suspected to be heard.

Abe is a Conservative. I don't find any of his policies particularly disruptive.....
