says it will attract more workers
but those affected are F&B, Retail . . .

High time there should be food vans at selected streets so that those who want to be their own boss do not have to pay super high rent for a shop premise to operate. Like other advance countries, food trucks/vans help to reduce food prices for consumers. There are many aspiring chefs who want to venture on their own can further develop their specialty. Spore wants to copy everything of 1st world or any world yet this one conception is totally lacking because the property sector is highly controlled by developers. High time F&B sector do a rejig.

Food hygiene and waste disposal will be most difficult to control when we have such mobile food vans. Many areas especially those housing & HDB estates are within the water catchment area. It is not that there is no way to control them but rather, more expensive to deal with them as compared to fixed hawker centres in the longer run.
Those good days we can get cheap hawker food from mobile hawkers might never return until someone can specially design one such mobile hawker van equipped with a hygienic (Robotics?) device & food waste disposal system onboard that can satisfy NEA's present requirement.

Not all types of hawker food can go mobile ways. But certainly when there is a will there is a way. Eg chap chai png, nasi padang, nasi lemak, laksa, etc. where the food is already cooked in a central kitchen or at home can be dished out in the van/truck. Like some mrt shops minimal cooking can be done too. If some advance countries can have such movable/mobile food facilities for the public nea can do similar too. It is a matter of mindset of the pap want to support the lowly less educated people living in HDB or enrich the rich landlords with fixed ever increasing rents of stalls, shops, etc.
