Putin said: "Let's wait and see how it develops and how it ends." He claimed that Ukraine tried to launch attacks "near our nuclear facilities, nuclear power plants" in Russia and promised to "do everything possible to prevent any negative turn of events."
"We will retaliate if they don't understand that such methods are unacceptable and no different from terrorism," Putin said.
The President said Russian forces had recently launched effective attacks.
He was apparently referring to attacks on power plants in northern Ukraine and a dam in the south of the country. "Let's take these as warnings."
