There are hundreds of different dialects in Fujian, it is common that one village doesn’t understand the neighbouring village.

Different region in Fujian speak different dialects, different cities under the same region also speak differently.

In Spore Hokkien dialect is similar to Xiamen dialect while in Taiwan it is similar to Zhangzhou dialect

Actually there’s no such thing as Hokkien dialect, there are only Xiamen dialect, Quanzhou dialect, Zhangzhou dialect, Putian dialect, Fuzhou dialect etc etc.

In Singapore when we speak Hokkien everyone understands lah! But China Hokkien people don't understand our Hokkien leh!
