When our Northern neighbor know we buy second hand submarine first time many years ago they question Spore so small why need submarine to patrol our waters? So they not happy also go and buy. Then later classic joke news show the afloat submarine cannot sink into water or maybe purposely. Our Northern neighbor see we got what they will also get dunno why is it the so called armed race?

The problem with Bolehland is the same problem that afflicted their development since its 1963 independence - Short term thinking and zero strategic mindset. This problem does not just affect M'sia's defence policy, but also its retard its economy direction.
SG however, is FORCED to do the opposite - which many M'sian living in their large resource-rich country, has for a long time laugh at our "Kiasu-ism"..

Which is why none of the SAF land and maritime assets use a single-source command and control system..
Many of those are either tech-transfer then modified to suit SAF need....with the help of local defence integrators like ST and DSTA
Even our US-dependent RSAF jets are controlled via non-American system...Like the Israel-based G550 AEW, which replaced the E2C.

Oh...I forget - RSAF also replaced all 4 US-made KC-135 tankers with 6 European Airbus A330 Multi-Role Transport Tankers...
