Nowadays can get good laptop fo.$350.
With 350 you can also get a good 2nd hand laptop

what do u use your laptop for? need it for mobility to bring around for work? or a cheaper more powerful desktop is better alternative ?

If laptop is needed for work to earn monies then I suggest to get new one. If laptop is used as leisure entertainment not to earn monies then repair it IMHO.

Will need a laptop as I need to use it outside. I'll need a relatively good one and if I don't repair, will very likely buy one that is at least $2k.

You use laptop to do what kind of work need at least 2K? I recently get one for my dotter (co-shared with me as I sometimes want to use) is about 1.8K. The graphics card is the killer as she claim need do 3D modeling which is BS becuz I catch her a few times play some game instead!!!

RAM needs to be at least 16G (32G if possible). Also need SSD and 2TB of HDD space. A big screen is a must as I can't see very well nowadays.

Yah, that's my consideration too. Recession coming and I've been spending a lot in the last few years. I'm thinking if the repair can help the laptop last another two years then it'd be worth it.
What's the typical lifespan of a laptop? Usually I changed mine every three years but this time round I want to consider saving money.

I would suggest getting a new one instead. Expecting to use a four year old laptop for another two years after repair is quite a stretch. Other parts will start to break down soon. A new decent laptop is just about 1k+, unless you are paying the Apple tax

I got one spare iMac left one corner, used to repair it change the power supply cost 300++
used for few months , HDD seem corrupted never go fix. I nearly wanna throw away donate out maybe next time will when the donation drive again come my area.

If u have a img system of your present laptop u can do a similar or better laptop of the same brand
and do a cloning into the new 2nd second hand working laptop available at Blangala simlim mall.
for singlon it is easy as i have the image disk in my ubuntu under disk management
due to alot of monkey tricks deployed i will take longer to arr at pfsense my own router
meaning i can control my provider of what they know abt me using a old computer switches etc.
It is no longer easy to write to a cdrom for iso file. I need to boot up my own router

Remove the SSD/HD before repairing if you know it is not storage issue if your laptop warranty has expired

If laptop warranty expires and you have an expensive laptop. Always remember to take CPU and graphic chip pictures. These are the components that can sell for a good price.
Scare the repair man swap your cpu and graphic chip and claim that these 2 components have damaged.
If you have a built in laptop battery. Always disconnect the battery connector first before removing any item from the laptop.

u can slowly read up/watch youtube how to videos...to restore it
if hardware problem...like lcd screen spoilt
then cannot
maybe get a external monitor to view the screen (thats wat I do...
last week
i went to woodlands sungei rd
the seller sell me a dell Amd A8 3500 for 35$
it was win7 and unable to boot
so i install win10
now its working all right

What is your laptop Spec and have any independent graphic chip not onboard graphic chip?
CPU I5-92xx , I7-92xx - Dont waste $$$
If have independent graphic chip like Ndivia 1060 etc then worth the repair.
