China had 1.41 billion people at the end of last year, 850,000 fewer than the end of 2021, according to data released by the National Statistics Bureau on Tuesday. That marks the first drop since 1961, the final year of the Great Famine under former leader Mao Zedong.

Yeah. quite a lot of European countries are also having low birthrates, such as Monaco, Andorra, Portugal, Greece, Bulgaria, Italy, Germany, Romania, Croatia, Serbia, Hungary, Spain, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Latvia, Slovakia, Lithuania, Estonia etc. In fact the list for low birth rate (I am using 10 births or lower per 1000 pop as cutoff) European countries is quite long.
Singapore is at 8.7.
