But if the Earth rotates counter clockwise? Will the Sun rise in the West then?

The rotation of the Earth on its axis causes the day and night cycle, while the orbit of the Earth around the Sun causes the seasons. An Earth spinning in the opposite direction would have very different atmospheric and ocean currents. Although the global mean temperature would remain almost the same, the major ocean currents would switch from the Atlantic to the Pacific, changing the planet's climate drastically.

Ocean currents affect the land masses. If the ocean current is warm the surrounding land masses will be warm, conversely, it the ocean current is cold, the surrounding land mass will be cold.......................... Laughing

Currently all the currents move clockwise, if the earth rotates the other direction all the currents will move anti-clockwise…the freezing cold current will move from Alaska to Japan, the Philippines and Spore. Rolleyes
