Almost 8.5 million doses of covid vaccine have been discarded in Sweden, according to the Public Health Agency's statistics that SR Ekot reports on.
Thus, almost a fifth of the total number of vaccine doses that Sweden has purchased so far has been destroyed.

According to former vaccine coordinator Richard Bergström, this is mainly due to people refraining from taking doses that are recommended.
