Beside CCP already officially sign away those lands, unless they again claim ish another historical paper that they signed.

And don't be surprise CCP will give Russia even more lands if this can help them take back one tiny taiwan.

UN list Taiwan part of China. Taiwan's Republic of China constitution said so too. 
It is a political entity at best, not a country, that is international law.

US has signed treaty to assist the defense of Republic of China govt.
Not  Republic of Taiwan or any other name.
Also assist the defense is a grey term, no necessary be physically involved.
US can always get its allies to impose sanctions than get millions or billions killed and radiated. 

We can only hope US politicians have a clear picture, do not pull rest of the world down.

Japan formally renounced its sovereignty over Taiwan in the Treaty of San Francisco effective April 28, 1952.
Taiwan became part of the Republic of China on October 25, 1945, which has been celebrated since then as Retrocession Day.
