I remember this comedy show very well
Not only he was not fired
He was promoted managing director of MAS shortly after
Then he was called into politics by the very man who bought charges to him, GCT
He was parachuted into Senior Minister of State immediately 
And promoted every couple of years

This comedy wayang was so popular with the Papaya that they follow up with morerepeated shows
The most recently the Ridoutgate, again starring ah nehs
The storyline is the same, the ending is always predictable 

In the case of Thambi, he was reported for espionage 
A COI was set up, he was acquitted 
But to “Show how serious they were in dealing with such cases”
Thambi was fined $1500 for being careless to let the reporter has a peek
In the case of Ridoutgate, two ah nehs were investigated for possible breach of trust
To add in more spices, and make the show more dramatic, CPIB was given supporting roles
A ownself appointed investigator, Horseface Teo, won the best supporting role hands down 
And just like all Korean shows, the ending was predictable 

We can expected more such comedy wayangs in the future
