A few Russians sitting next to me were terrified

The Earth is not merely experiencing a climate change but a whole change in ecology. Climate is about temperature but the ecology is not only about that, but also winds, typhoons, tsunamis, all of the elements. 

We can expect air travel to be very risky going forward. 

Man has damaged so much of Earth through deforestation and building skyscrapers here and there, which either block original winds or allow them to pass when previously they were blocked by the forests. 

This changed the whole formation of winds and their velocity.
