Where do you draw the line between paying respects to ancestors and ancestors worship?

After the US saved China albeit indirectly, the civil war resumed. Having lost most of its soldiers, the KMT could not fight. They retreated to Taiwan and the natives reported that the KMT soldiers were like walking skeletons. They had fought valiantly to defend the motherland unlike that coward lying in a crystal coffin in Tiananmen.
