PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said ordered military to develop a plan to evacuate Rafah & to destroy four Hamas battalions it says are deployed there. Following war on October 7.

Egypt constructed a concrete border wall that reaches six meters into the ground and is topped with barbed wire. It has also built berms and enhanced surveillance at border posts, the security sources said. Last month Egypt’s state info service detailed some of the measures it had taken on its border in response to Israeli suggestions that Hamas had obtained weapons smuggled from Egypt. Three lines of barriers made any above-ground or underground smuggling impossible, it said.

Egyptian & Israeli authorities did not respond to requests comment. As Egypt’s military over last several yrs has consolidated its grip northern Sinai as it battles an Islamist insurgency escalated a decade ago. Well b4 current war in Gaza broke out, Egypt said it had destroyed tunnels through which smuggling to Gaza previously flourished, & cleared a buffer zone near border, displacing tens & thousands of people, destroying thousands of homes.

On approach to Rafah Crossing with Gaza, remains of razed houses can been seen along with miles of concrete walls that have been built parallel to the sea and near roads close to the border.

Egypt and Israel have been@peace for more than four decades, in recent years have extended ties through Israeli exports of natural gas & security coordination around their shared border and the Gaza Strip.

Israel says it rescued two Israeli-Argentine hostages from the southern Gaza city of Rafah in a "covert operation with extraction under fire," 128 days after their capture. Also in Rafah, Israeli forces launched overnight strikes. There is a growing over operation in Rafah, now home to more than half of Gaza's population — many already displaced from elsewhere in the enclave.

Netherlands must stop export of F-35 fighter jet parts to Israel within seven days, Dutch court has ruled, due to what it called Israel’s “attacks” on Gaza Strip. Court found there is a risk Israel's F-35 fighter jets could be used to violate international humanitarian law.

Hamas terror, has said a Rafah ground offensive would mean the end of hostage negotiations, on Gaza Monday at least 94 people were killed in overnight Israeli strikes on the city of Rafah. The Gaza said it still in process of retrieving & identifying bodies that the death toll is expected to increase. that Palestine Red Crescent Society said have killed more than 100 people.

The intense bombings were part of an operation by Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to free two hostages held captive by Hamas, a complex rescue ops under fire in the heart of Rafah, based on highly sensitive & valuable intelligence from Intelligence Directorate. Israel Security Agency,” IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said in a briefing Monday. “By 01:50, aerial fire was activated by Israeli Air Force Southern Command, to enable the force's disengagement and to strike Hamas terrorists in the area.”

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — Beneath the Gaza Strip headquarters of the controversial United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, known commonly as UNRWA, the Hamas terror group hid one of its most significant assets, the Israeli military has revealed.

The subterranean data center — complete with an electrical room, industrial battery power banks and living quarters for Hamas terrorists operating the computer servers — was built precisely under the location where Israel would not consider looking initially, let alone target in an airstrike.

The revelation of the server farm comes amid other accusations of UNRWA collusion with the Gaza-ruling terror group and the entanglement of the UN body that provides welfare and humanitarian services for Palestinian refugees from the 1948 and 1967 wars and their descendants.

Israel last month accused 12 staff with the UN Palestinian refugee agency of taking part in the October 7 massacre by Hamas-led terrorists, who killed 1,200 people and took 253 hostages in the murderous rampage.

Since the allegations became public late last month, UNRWA has seen many of its top donor countries announce funding freezes, leading to concerns that the agency could stop operating in Gaza and elsewhere in the Middle East within weeks.

But the IDF’s recent discovery of the Hamas data center while UNRWA is under increased scrutiny appears to be merely a coincidence.

UNRWA’s Gaza headquarters is located in Gaza City’s upscale Rimal neighborhood, an area that the IDF had previously operated in, dismantled the local Hamas battalion and withdrawn its troops from.

The IDF in recent weeks has returned to carry out smaller operations in the northern Gaza Strip, after largely destroying Hamas’s fighting capabilities during the early stages of the ground offensive.

IDF can now carry out raids with much smaller numbers of forces, for operations “require much more research, much more time & a lot more patience.” There is still a risk to these raids, with Aharon noting that two soldiers under his command had been killed during their operation to reach Hamas data center —

The passage had several other branching paths, but to keep reporters on track  & not get lost, soldiers had placed neon glowsticks on floors, the route we followed led to a small hole, which after climbing through, revealed a large hallway with flooring, wall tiles, air conditioning & lighting fixtures. Hallway was plastered with posters bearing logo of Hamas’s military, Al-Qassam Brigades, some with operational security instructions for terrorists managing data ctr. In this part of tunnel, according to Hazan, Hamas IT & intelligence staff would supervise, manage data center.

The Israeli Air Force has begun an "extensive wave of attacks" in Lebanon, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement Wednesday. The strikes followed an earlier rocket attack from Lebanon on a northern Israeli city, according to the IDF.

Palestinians in Rafah are deciding whether to flee their last refuge in Gaza as Israel draws up plans for a ground offensive that the United Nations aid chief has warned could lead to "a slaughter."

Hostage negotiations held in Cairo were productive and serious, but did not arrive at a breakthrough that would result in a final deal, a US official said.

The IDF says it has obtained video from a security camera showing Hamas' leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, inside a tunnel below the city of Khan Younis, according to an Israeli security official.

WHO chief pleads with Israel not enter Rafah, warning outcome could be "hell".

Ahead of expected Israeli ground operation on Rafah in southern Gaza.  World Health Organization (WHO) has pleaded with Israel to not carry out the incursion, saying it will be a “serious disaster.”

“The situation is already beyond words. I can’t even describe the situation in Gaza. And if this assault happens on Rafah I think it will be a serious disaster,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told CNN’s Becky Anderson in Dubai on Tuesday in an exclusive interview.

“The best solution is not to do it, and I think the whole world is calling for that. Doing it, I can’t imagine what will happen…I don’t think even hell could describe it...I plead to Israel not to do this,” he added.

Panic is soaring in Rafah as desperate Palestinians decide whether to flee the last refuge in Gaza while Israel draws up plans for its ground offensive. Dr. Tedros called for a ceasefire, saying it was the only way to find a lasting solution to the conflict.

“More than 28,000 deaths now, and more than 70% are women and children. That alone is enough to stop the war, because those who are dying are the wrong people and who haven’t done anything to bring this problem," he said.

Palestinian Authority president calls on Hamas to quickly complete a hostage deal
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas speaks during a meeting with French President on West Bank city of Ramallah.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas called on Hamas to "quickly" reach a deal for the release of hostages in Gaza in exchange for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, Palestinian news agency WAFA said.

But as CIA, Mossad, Qatari and Egyptian officials met in Cairo on Tuesday for talks about a potential hostage deal, which a US official described as “productive and serious,” although no breakthrough has been reached.

Abbas urged the group to conclude the deal to “protect Palestinian people and avoid an attack on Rafah.

“We call on Hamas movement to quickly complete prisoner swap deal to spare Palestinian people the scourge of another catastrophe with ominous consequences, no less dangerous than the Nakba of 1948, & to avoid occupation’s attack on city of Rafah, which will lead to thousands of victims, suffering and displacement for our people," he said, according to WAFA. Abbas also called on the US and Arab nations to “work seriously” to complete the deal.

A US official said the outstanding area of disagreement among the parties in the hostage talks is ratio of Palestinian prisoners to hostages would be released as part of the deal. The Israeli delegation has since returned from Cairo, but Egyptian govt sources told state media that consultations will continue in Egypt over next three days.

“Everyone is responsible, & try not to place obstacles on any party to disrupt deal, b'cos things are no longer tolerable & it's time every one to bear responsibility," Abbas said.
