“Positively surprised” - AstraZeneca vaccine shows good effectiveness in large study
#1

The vaccine from AstraZeneca shows in a large-scale US study a 74 percent protection against Covid 19 disease. In people 65 and over, the effectiveness even increases to 83.5 percent. Among 17,600 subjects, there should have been no severe courses.

"I was pleasantly surprised," says Anna Durbin, a vaccine researcher at Johns Hopkins University and one of the study directors. The vaccine also offers a high level of protection against serious illness and hospitalization.

There were no cases of the rare but serious side effect of cerebral vein thrombosis, which has so far been associated with the vaccine.
