Encik Tan by Fei Siong Group is a halal certified F&B endeavor cultivated to spread the love for local hawker fare among Muslim folks in the little red dot. From one single outlet at Kallang Wave Mall, the establishment has since expanded significantly, presently spanning close to 20 locations across the island. A typical setup comprises individual stations, each being responsible for accepting and preparing orders for a designated cluster of food items (delightfully served in old school dinnerware). Beverages and desserts such as Chendol are also sold on its premises.
What knocked our socks off:
The wanton noodles won us over through and through with its springy mee-kia variant doused in a light yet zesty sauce and complemented by incredibly sweet, succulent pieces of char siew. The dumplings in soup were also considerably packed with meat and assorted ingredients. However the downer is overall quality of this dish varies from one outlet to another; while it deserved a thumbs up at its Bedok Mall branch, we were rather dismayed by the cold, overly sinewy char siew rendered at its VivoCity branch.

There was much to rave about the Penang fried kway teow as well - a sensational aromatic stir-fry of flat rice noodles with eggs, prawns, beansprouts, Chinese chives and a dash of homemade chili. While we would have preferred a soupier version alongside a toss of pork lard croutons (excluded out of deference to Islamic dietary requirements) to accentuate the wok hei flavors already competently enshrined in the dish, nevertheless taste buds were more than sufficiently tantalized.

I rate it 3/10

Worse than popular hawker center food.

The gravy lacks the depth and long cooking fire taste with the necessary ingredients.

Why do we need 5 Mayors and 80 PAP Ministers?
