Actually US side likes Xi JP and wants him to be in power for a long as possible.. xi is a very good leader from western perspective.
I learned this discussing with some students doing political studies in NUS.
1. Xi has done more to contain China economy through policy missteps like undermining innovative tech firms, enlarging inefficient state enterprises and policies that are highly damaging like 3 red lines for property sector that gave developers no time to deleverage.
2. Xi has done more to help US rally its allies and strengthen the pro US alliance jn the region. S
Korea and Japan Australia etc
3. Xi open challenges both military and economic galvanise hawkish elements in Western country to deal with China. You look at Biden from 2000-2016 he was very China friendly...and all these has changed.
4. China's under Xi became close to rogue nations like Russia and Putin ...and Iran this undermines its position on global arena.
5. Xi did more to scare investors both on markets and direct investments with many now avoiding China because they want to derisk
Yes the US is very happy with Xi. Maim risk is as China does badly it is likely to externalise its problems by attacking Taiwan etc. This means US side will give China a breathing tube on and off so it does not get desperate.
Yes my views my offend some people bit based on watching Xi over time his policies like Zero Covid, Anti tech giants reflects very poor judgements.
