Built in late 1988, the plane was 25 years old, and has been operated by United Airlines since Nov. 30, 2011, Rogue Valley Times reported.
How do the numbers add up?

You do know it’s mothership right? 1998 would be 26 years old. UA only owns it from 2011. I draw block diagram also cannot understand the math behind.

The external panel of a Boeing 737 airplane fell off during a United Airlines' flight departing from San Francisco, California in the United States (U.S.) on Mar. 15, 2024.
The Boeing 737 was discovered to be missing the external panel after the plane landed at the airport in Oregon.

I think sgbutt meant check flight details before booking ... I always check for flight details - flying to Bangkok the 0710 flight on Airbus the rest on Boeing. For flight to KL only the 0830 flight Airbus the rest Boeing!
Boeing is getting closer to junk bond status.
Fitch Ratings cut the troubled airplane maker's credit outlook from "positive" to "stable" as Boeing's 737 Max and other woes continue.

Luckily nobody was hit by the panel. At least so far.
