Pictures and video appearing to show a Ukrainian Abrams on fire began circulating on social media earlier today. At the time of the incident, the tank was said to have been operating near the town of Avdiivka in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region, which Russian forces recently seized control of after months of heavy fighting. U.S. officials confirmed last September that 31 M1 Abrams tanks had been delivered to Ukraine's armed forces.
That promise was made last September. Reuters said it could not confirm the claim by the Russians. US to supply 31 such tanks and each tank has a turbo jet engine of 1,500 hp.

Looks like the Russians kept their Sep 2023 promise to "burn" those M1 tanks.Â
Unlike Leopards, Challenger and Russian MBT which uses turbo-charged diesel, only the M1 uses turbine-engine - which runs very hot...meaning it will show up easier on infra-red.

As long as enough rounds lands accurately on the vulnerable part of the tank, like the engine area, the turret roof or even any hatch left open by the tank crew.
And how to be that accurate ? Drones with explosives..esp FPV drones...
BTW, it was the Ukrainians who "taught" the Russians how to use consumer (toy) drones on the battle field during the early stage of the Conflict...

The M1 Abrams tank is at least 1 generation behind the "more modern" German Leopard 2, of which at least 11 of 18 were destroyed during last year failed "Counter offensive".
So what hope is there for the complicated and expensive older M1 with ageing genes in the era of fast evolving cheaper Drone Warfare and War of Attrition ?Â

WASHINGTON (AP, 26 Apr 2024) — Ukraine has sidelined the Abrams M1A1 battle tanks because Russian drone warfare has made it too difficult for them to operate without detection or coming under attack, two U.S. military officials told The Associated Press.
The U.S. send 31 Abrams to Ukraine in January 2023 which cost about US$10 million apiece. But the battlefield has changed substantially since then, notably by use of Russian surveillance drones and hunter-killer drones. Five of the 31 tanks have already been lost to Russian attacks.
The World Order change is accelerating...and nothing is more apparent than the brutality of 21st Century battle field we see in Ukraine and Gaza where consumer-drones with 4K live-stream video easily spot 20th Century tanks- -- looking like little bugs to be squashed easily and quickly...
I saw videos and to be fair US Bradley Fighting Vehicle pack a nasty punch with their guns I saw how it almost destroy the house and walls as it sweep across. The others would be their Himars. I think both show their prowess are much better than the M1 tanks instead IMHO.

In fact all the tanks out there have been destroyed in middle east before, Turkey ISIS, Yemeni civil wars in last 3-8 years ago.Â
Just that media do not broadcast.
Tech alone is insufficient to decide the war as shown in RusUkr and IsrHamas wars
strategy, courage, discipline, logistic, manpower experience, production ability, tech
all have to factor in modern warfare.
War is not fun, Sg must avoid war if possible.Â
Talk of boom boom boom days are over.

We often get to see videos published by Ukrainian military...
and of course Kiev gov will show nice stories how great the donated NATO and US weapons are in the battle front lah...
However, things has since changed quickly...the West discovered how quickly the Russians are able to defeat NATO's best weapon system...Including HIMARs
