#1

"The ten countries with the highest numbers of ultra wealthy people, who each have a net worth in excess of $30 million, include: the United States (129,665), China (47,190), Germany (19,590), Japan (14,940), United Kingdom (14,005), Canada (13,320), Hong Kong (12,615), France (11,980), Italy (8,930) and India (8,880). Of these, India was the only country to record an increase in its ultra wealthy population year-on-year (+3.2 percent), while all others saw declines. Hong Kong and Japan saw the greatest negative percent change in their ultra wealthy populations, at -23% and -21.9 percent, respectively."

China's place is truly remarkable. From a once nationwide poor country, it now takes second place.

Yet while 47,190 is a big number, it is still very small relative to 1.4 billion peepur.

India with a comparable population size lags far behind at 8,880.

Even the richest man in Malaysia is richer than the richest man in Singapore.  Much of this has to do with the domestic market.  To be richer than what our domestic market allows us, we need to go do business in another country's domestic market, but most of us would only get slaughtered there.

Many Singaporeans tried to get rich by doing business in China and came back without their shirts.  They realized that just knowing how to speak the Mandarin dialect and read Han characters wasn't good enough.

If Creative Technology were a US company, it would have made its founder a multibillionaire and not just a billionaire.

Loser 3rd tied western country. 90% Canada’s numbers are also former Hongkies who ran there, because of 1997 and the British commonwealth link to Canada. In any case almost 100% of immigrants to Canada apply there to jump and hop over easily to USA
