Nvidia’s early ventures into 3D graphics chips were fraught with failures. The NV1 chip, despite an initial order of 250,000 units from Diamond Multimedia, saw 249,000 units returned due to its incompatibility with mainstream graphics APIs. The subsequent NV2 chip, developed in collaboration with Sega, also failed to capture the market.
