Only in Singapore. We are used to depressing the pay of engineers. We don't value experienced engineers.

From my experience, the best engineers are from US, Germany, France, Japan and Israel. The rest not there yet. Singapore is very far behind.

90% of engineers with masters and Phd from Singapore universities are foreigners (India/China/Myanmar).
they are the best engineers but they are 90% foreigners.

Singapore does not produce best Singaporean engineers but best foreigners' engineers.

also in private sector, especially high tech industries like semiconductors, 90% of engineers are foreigners.
they are from Malaysia, Indonesia,China,India & Myanmar etc.

PAP imported so many foreign engineers that local engineers see no future in the engineering industries.

TBH, Singapore engineers are pretty well trained. Like for many of the good things in Singapore, sometimes we don't realise how good we are at certain things until you have first hand experience of what goes on in other countries. How often does our buildings collapse or blackouts happen or refineries explode etc?
