Judging by the number and severity of the traffic accidents these days, our criteria for passing driving tests is extremely low. More drivers are also impatient, careless, reckless and obviously distracted by their mobile phones.  

I believe this is the case.

Even pedestrians are distracted by the phone.  I have even seen a young mother...in her twenties...walking with a child of about five.  One hand was holding the phone, eyes glued to its screen, while the other hand was free. The child was trotting along.

Another one.  The child was sitting at a table staring into space.  The young woman, believed to be his mother, was sitting at another seat busy looking at the mobile phone.
