The discoveries are of great significance to the study of coinage technology and the changes in monetary and economic policies of that time, said Zhang.

That's why the archeologist suspect the location where the bronze coins were unearthed was a Han dynasty mint.
The Chinese were late comer to bronze age but it didn't prevent them from scaling up the production for use in weapons, currency and art.
One of the better known e.g. is the ancient Han dynasty bronze artifact 铜奔马 from around 200 BC.

At least some movies do based on historical findings...like Chinese coins tend to have a square-hold in the centre for easier carrying...
Even with copper or bronze, it was too heavy to carry around. Maybe that's why the Chinese invented the paper $. HA!

Actually, there was a "rush" for SG's history after 14th century coins from Song or Yuan coins were unearthed in Fort Canning in 1990s.
Till today, our researchers are still making new discovery how SG (then Temasek) came be to a major economic hub with China before Raffles arrived.

Even before Han, during the Qin dynasty already had very advanced bronze technology. The famous one was the Qin chariots and horse unearthed in Xi An in 1980.

Perhaps that was a reason why many of Zhenghe's sailors chose to settle down SEA, not considering the fact the famous admiral himself was a Muslim.

Dude,
If concept of coins as currency had not existed 2000 years ago, the Oldest profession won't have flourished during the ancient Roman period..

Then nothing is a big deal already, since almost anything can be seen in films.

That's what old bronze would look like. Those that look nice are likely fake, e.g. those certain pieces in a certain someone's home full of carpets.
