Russia has suffered the death of another General, plus seven elite SWAT fighters from the feared Dzerzhinsky Division of the country’s national guard which is under Vladimir Putin’s direct control, according to reports.

It comes amid a warning from a top Russian airman that his country’s forces have suffered losses on a scale that will “horrify” people when the figure - now a closely guarded secret - is revealed.

Captain Alexander Garnaev - a famous military test pilot and recipient of the Kremlin’s highest honour, the Hero of Russia award - denounced the “completely incomprehensible” war.

In the first place, Ukraine is former Soviet bloc. Their armies come from the same family tree. Battle hardened ex soviet elements pit against each other. It is not an inexperienced or greenhorn army.
