There are likely millions of parts in such a vehicle like tank. So it is definitely a technical fault in any one part to happen sooner or later even if closely and well maintained. only a matter of time.

Question why didn't they do a maintenance check before hand ?

Technical issues are best excuses for armour and fighter jets when they made a screw up.

For ships, we have sudden gush of strong wind, strong current or engine failure when we run the ship aground or knock down a bridge.     Big Grin

Our tanks are very likely to be better maintained than those in Israel but may not work in an actual battle. Our NSF cleaned them too much until they cannot work well.

I dunno about pilots but I know that all ship's masters aka captains were secretly told by their shipping managers never to admit any liability in any accident. Just blame the weather, the strong current or rough seas, poor visibility, or worst case is engine failure. This is to avoid difficulty with insurance company. Just let the company handle.    Big Grin

U can check thoroughly,  but if you have a good looking component yet is faulty inside or manufactured. the mechanics will never know until it is used. Or even worse, used many times yet do not show the fault until one fine day.
