Dum know. I heard of or in sinkie for 20 years.

1. I have served the nation in a combat unit for 2.5 + 10 years. I had fulfilled my duty as a citizen, but has the country do it's part for me?
2. I don't know where the threat of CCP is, but I know the threat of CECA is already at my doorsteps
3. I had been called a CCP, JHK, Pinoy, but they never called me a CECA..

"What is the unofficial poverty line in Singapore?

While Singapore has no official poverty line, there are several different numbers commonly discussed that can provide a frame of reference.

It has been estimated that a family of four would need $1,700 to cover basic costs of living7, but $2,500- 3,000/month to meet a ”social inclusion” level of income."

Note
It's done 3/4 years ago so, may not be accurately reflected in today's much higher costs of living.

As you know Spore birth rate is getting lower
for ave family size could be 3.5 people now, so 1700 could be sufficient...

These few years many salary growth higher than economy growth, this is not sustainable
as is clear many income increase is more due money printing than actual demand growth.

Even maintaining an extremely strong SGD to specially import cheaply products from oversea and yet, those savings were not passed on to consumers..

With a sudden hike in prices on top of GST rates increasing

How many seniors have $1500 per mth that is needed now?

That is why more and more of them fell through the holes.

Singapore seniors each need at least S$1,379 monthly to meet basic needs: Study - TODAY (todayonline.com)

How come the oppositions not fighting the white pirates to have ZERO GST for basic needs for Singaporeans …. instead of keep trying to self fugg themselves ?

W/O safety net, minimum wages, free healthcare and welfare

Singapore provides a trampoline for you to bounce up and down. If fallen outside and die is your own biz.

Tharman's analogy of the trampoline is that the Pappies will throw away the local hoi polloi and replace them with FTs once these Sinkies cease to be productive workers.

In S'pore, only 20% of residents live in private housing and 11% own cars, so you are referring to the minority of people living here who may not even be citizens. Remember those money launderers from China living in GCBs and having a fleet of luxury cars?

Prices shot up too fast for many middle- age people to be able to get better jobs with higher pay. With a 2 or 5 years runway before reaching 60 or 65 years old, there is nothing they can do except cling on to their pathetic low paying job paving a cyclical impact.

I have 2 senior colleagues in their early 60s who are extremely talented and write impeccable English. However, they are continually bypassed for promotion owing to their age. Well, it can be argued that they are fortunate to still have PME jobs when many of their peers were already retrenched in their 40s and 50s.
