Whether the girl is a gold digger or not  I  just don't  see any thing wrong or for that matter negative.

The man is 73yo he has gone through much of life and this is his last stretch. Money probably does not  mean much to him as he will die in around 10y-15yrs.

I don't think he is naive. The girlfriend willing to spend much of her time with him gives him joy that money cannot buy.

Whether one see it just as a transaction or true love...either way they both get what they each want.
