A person like me who is approaching my mid-50s has far fewer friends than during my younger days in secondary school, JC, NS, NUS and when I was starting out in my career. I noticed that my number of close friends dwindled after marriage and starting a family. Now that my children are adults, I find that I have less than 10 close friends who are mostly people I grew up with in church since we still see each other once a week. I believe that this is perfectly normal.
