Why our founding father late LKY picked 9 August which coincides with US dropping the 2nd Atomic bomb on Nagasaki?

Why he didn't pick either 8 August or 10 August then?

You are not Singaporean, therefore u dunno that we separated from Malaysia in 9th August 1965. This day of separation became our national day.
