🦀 A Boat Quay restaurant said it will take legal action after a woman went online & accused them of serving her teen daughter S$356 Alaskan king crab without mentioning the price.

They refuted her claims & said it was “clearly a case of cancel culture”.

Actually not very expensive if really fresh and alive... But if fresh and alive why chilli style and not simple steam style to taste the freshness?

The restaurant noted that CCTV footage showed that the group of 4 diners: "did not appear to be teenagers to us". The FB post could be from a competitor of Seafood by the River calculated to discredit the eatery during the F1 when lots of tourists are in SG.

The King Crab has a short harvesting season, which leads to limited availability and high prices. They also have a limited cold water habitat. Owing to their tasty flavour which is similar to that of a lobster, the crab is expensive even in Alaska. The price of King Crab there varies depending on the size, quality and availability. On average, expect to pay around US$25 to US$45 per pound for the crab in Alaska. It is still more affordable than in S'pore. My family feasted on King Crab during our trip to Anchorage, Alaska 9 years ago.
