There is a chance that the war will end before the end of 2023. But it is not so certain. The war will end when Russia is kicked out of Ukraine or Ukraine surrenders after some severe breakdown.
Unsurprisingly, on New Year's Eve, the Russians made the Ukrainians' celebration more pleasant by launching 45 Iranian kamikaze drones , all shot down by anti-aircraft defenses. Unfortunately, out of about 20 Ch-101 winged missiles fired by strategic bombers, it destroyed 12, the rest hit, although the damage this time was not so severe.
Despite air alerts, Ukraine's usually fairly disciplined population continued to party in the streets, blowing their noses at Putin. It was a kind of demonstration of will and courage.
