Inflation protests across Europe threaten political turmoil

LONDON (AP) — In Romania, protesters blew horns and banged drums to voice their dismay over the rising cost of living. People across France took to the streets to demand pay increases that keep pace with inflation. Czech demonstrators rallied against government handling of the energy crisis. British railway staff and German pilots held strikes to push for better pay as prices rise.

Across Europe, soaring inflation is behind a wave of protests and strikes that underscores growing discontent with the spiraling cost of living and threatens to unleash political turmoil.

It's a myth you can get rid of inflation by protesting.

If you protest something cause by the govt, govt can do something to solve it ..

However inflation factors are external ..war supply chain and low US interest rates.

I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

Likely because China economy so weak that inflation become suppressed.

China has not released it's GDP data which is delayed indefinitely.

Like young kids who don't dare to show report card to parents.

So how bad is report card?

China is definitely affected by inflation. Even the "forever deflating" Japan is affected. Yeah, but no protests as inflation rate in China has risen to just 2.8% and Japan's inflation rate is 3% if I remembered correctly. Isn't that what Japan wanted? To have inflation?

But yeah, no protests so far in both nations.

I've been to China almost 3 to 4 times a year for last 10 yrs before COVID. If there's big inflation I will know.

Maybe today prices are higher slightly but there's definitely Zero inflation for donkey yrs. Unlike SG inflation is always higher every year due to a lousy greedy Gov.

What you said is exactly what is happening. 2.8% is not really THAT high. Definitely affected but not drastically.
