Because of the sanction,  the US,  Europe and other countries sanctioned against Russia will not have the opportunity to buy cheap Russian oil and gas.   Just wonder if the other countries are using the opportunity to buy cheap from Russia?  India reported they took the opportunity.  They haut ah huat,  laughing all the way to the banks.  China's contracts with Russia are mainly in Euros or USD.

Russia is playing another dangerous game when they insisted the unfriendly nations pay for supplies in Ruble.  This is a very short term view for which the unfriendly nations will have no choice but to comply.

For gas and oil supplies,  it is usual for countries to have contracts signed with payment terms specified to protect the interest of the parties.  Most of the contracts are paid in Euros.   

In the case of Russia, being the supplier,  they spent a lot on the pipelines and investments for the infrastructures.  They want a return for the installations.   As the consumer countries,  they want a steady stream of supply.    Now that Russia insisted on payments using Rubles instead of Euros,  they are the ones breaking the contracts.  Once the consumer countries can find alternatives,  they would have the legal right to break the contract.  Now, who is going to pay for the pipeline and infrastructure?
