SINGAPORE - All 527 eligible Housing Board (HDB) blocks in Tanjong Pagar town will be installed with solar photovoltaic systems to harness solar energy by 2025, the town council set out in a 10-year masterplan to be more energy-efficient.

Once this is done, the blocks are projected to achieve net zero energy consumption on average in common areas, the Tanjong Pagar Town Council said in its 2021 sustainability report, which was released on Sunday (Nov 7).

......

The town council is also working towards being zero-waste, such as by converting horticulture and food waste into compost.

......

It plans to plant 1,000 more trees by 2025, and 3,000 by 2030

......

if a new community garden called The Giving Garden @ Kim Tian West is a success, it will pave the way for the town council to start more urban farming projects in the future.

All the produce from The Giving Garden will be distributed to residents.

This scheme should be extended to all HDB flats, so that the whole nation can be energy-efficient...... Thinking

Depends on the rest of the town councils, I guess.

The issue is many blocks in Tanjong pagar GRC are already quite old and in prime locations. They might be enbloced within ten years. The payoff period for the solar panels will be too short in those blocks.

That is true, it will be a waste of resources if the solar panels are there for only a decade ... crying

Which fcking retarded moron LJ in HDB & EDB allow Tanj Pagar to start first, arh?

PAP really cannot prioritise base on needs but must kowtow to the Supremacy of the Emperor?

So, they take care of themselves first rather than those blocks that need it first.

That is why I'd rather vote for a taxi -driver.

Why do we need 5 Mayors and 80 PAP Ministers?

Tanjong Pagar constituency was the late LKY's ward, therefore it is given first priority.... Laughing

Dont be so happy. Their investment soon will reflect in your town council Bill. Why people always think so simple. They do it for other countries sake so that they can represent sg in global climate change la.

Solar panels can be removed and reinstalled elsewhere. The extra costs will be the removal and reinstallation.

Make sure have enough fire extinguishers in case there is a fire.
Need regular check. Heard solar panel will explode when catch fire?

Better dont buy roof top unit.
