I think this trend started quite a while ago. Earlier, it was moving to another US state due to political beliefs and costs of living. Now it goes further.

Singaporean student "Robert" (not his real name) never imagined that pursuing a degree at Harvard would entail joining a chat group to monitor the movements of US immigration officers on campus. He acknowledged that Singaporeans have generally had smoother experiences with visas compared with his peers from other countries, but recent developments have shifted his outlook.

Many Singaporean students and professionals who spoke to CNA TODAY for this article.
