I once stayed with an angmo family in the countryside in UK. They slept rather early but not 7pm. The man worked in London. He needed to take a long train ride home after 5pm. After taking their dinner, they slept before 9pm. They was no other activities that they can do as there wasn't any cinema or shopping mall and all shops are closed after 5pm.

I used to send my children to school, so I made it a point to go to bed by 10:30 pm the night before. This enabled me to wake up by 6 am and get my children up at 6:30 am to prepare us to leave home by 7 am.

My previous trips to Europe were almost always during winter when it gets dark by 4 pm.  There really isn't much to do in the smaller cities after dark, so we would have an early dinner and hit the sack by 9 or 10 pm.
