Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says Umno's move to seek royal pardon may be part of bigger political pressure to free former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

However, he said the matter is up to the Pardon Board whether to consider the application.

"As far as I know anyone can apply, but he (Umno) is using political pressure," he said. He said this after a special meeting with the Kelantan PN leadership.

Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidates in Kelantan and Terengganu will use the PAS logo in the upcoming state polls, said chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

He said the decision was made after discussions with PN component parties who agreed to follow what was done in the last 15th General Election (GE15).

PM Anwar want to be in?.

SHAH ALAM - Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will be part of the Pardons Board panel to decide on former premier Najib Razak’s request for a royal pardon.

Mr Anwar also said that any individual can apply for a pardon in Malaysia, and it will be subject to the law and the legal process.

“I will be part of the process and on the matters of the awarding of honorific titles and pardons, that is the prerogative of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (the Malaysian King)....

I AM an ordinary housewife who hardly writes letters to the editor. However, on this important issue about the royal pardon for our former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak, I feel compelled to write. If he had served the nation well as a prime minister, he would have received the highest respect from the rakyat.

Translated from the Malay language, he said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, whom some call Bang Non, is now in a situation (of pain) similar to when his mother and father passed away. He’s not afraid to face any obstacles.

If Najib is released, there are 2 scenarios:- 1) He can bring the support of the Malay people to the government where UMNO is now part of the government.

2) Najib can also be a burden to the government where the opposition will use this issue (of pardon) by claiming that the government intervened to free Najib. The previous scenario was PH using Najib as a bullet to win the GE15. The current scenario is now different from PH needs..
