One thing that India is right for Apple is that it does not have any homegrown mobile phone companies that can rival Apple, AFAIK. So less competition within India for Apple assuming a large part of the population can afford iPhones. 

But yeah, manufacturing there will need quite some time to fix before it becomes actually feasible.
