NATO assured on Wednesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin maintains his goal of controlling all of Ukraine and stressed that Moscow is preparing an offensive in the east of the former Soviet republic to conquer Donbas . 

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has stated that the war "must end now", although he has admitted that " we have to be realistic and realize that this can go on for a long time, for many months, even years, and that is why we also have to be prepared for the long term".
