Shares of China’s BYD rallied on Tuesday after the company announced a new technology that it claims can charge electric vehicles almost as quickly as it takes to fill a gasoline car.

BYD on Monday unveiled a new “Super e-Platform” technology, which it says will be capable of peak charging speeds of 1,000 kilowatts.

The EV giant and Tesla rival says this will allow cars that use the technology to achieve 400 kilometers (roughly 249 miles) of range with just 5 minutes of charging.

Old and current models of Tesla cars not good to charge to 100% for the lithium-ion batteries. It heats up and shortens the battery's life.

BYD cars can charge to 100% with lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries. Newer Tesla models are now also using lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries.

Actually all along like this when come any electronic device , your smartphones whatever come charging. I always " suspect " is not true in the sense, you see is still all about " software and hardware works together hand in hand " The software part specially can wrongly estimate the charging. Yeah , as you mention. Next whenever come Updates is on the software side more freq as people don't change the hardware much often unless it totally faulty.

APPLE got screw before, on this. They discover they purpose drain the battery doing software update.

Tesla recommends limiting daily charging to 80% due to the type of car batteries used. Some play safe charge to 75%.

For optimal Tesla battery health and longevity, Tesla recommends limiting daily charging to 80% - Lithium-ion batteries.

If you are using newer models, like Model 3 or Model Y with the LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery, Tesla recommends charging to 100%.

Tesla recommends charging between 50-80% daily (note not the same as “charge to 80%”).

Don't forget, for the LFP Batterie pack (Lithium Iron Phosphate), Tesla recommends charging the batteries to 100%.
