Quote:Ridwan had grabbed the basketball rim for two seconds, when the hoop collapsed and crashed on him.

Player went to grab the rim. The structure could not take his full body weight and collapsed on him killing him.

I play basketball. For as long as I remember the type of structure is quite solid and if you grab the rim you will more likely break the rim off the board than have the whole structure fall on you because rest of structure is firmly anchored into the ground

I am actually quite surprise that such a common structure which is found in many HDB estates is not standardised and with safety assured. When we buy a simple plug from shop also have safety seal.

Here we are dealing with a 200kg structure and nobody certify the safety. That is very odd.

Town council got employ safety officers, yet nobody feedback of this possible hazard if the structure never do any load test by PE especially during installation.

If no countermeasure is implemented, it will happen again!
