Manipulation and propaganda Stage 
1. Portrait as non hypocrisy using plian folk, testimonial  and pinpointing Propaganda
2. Play 感情牌(emotional card/ family card)
3. 做局( make the game) ownself smear ownself by using family members then ownself defence ownself( remind me of certain SMC candidate using this method before also)
4. Cry victim to get sympathy vote 
5. Play agreeable and flattering

My own take would be instead of tharman directly it could be his over-zealous supporters on the ground that mount the smear campaign against the candidate that pose the greatest threat. He has very strong support in the GRC Jurong so perhaps ppl living in those areas? Smear campaign is not unique to PE in last GE we already see so many incidents and stuff thrown include gutter politics etc

Not Tharman style to smear opponents. TKL made a mistake to accuse Tharman and had to back peddle.
